More Mad-Fangirl Rantings

I figured it was about time to do an in-depth (well, not really) analysis of pairings in my fandoms. Note that this does not necessarily include all of my fandoms, just the ones I thought of while I was writing it.

Harry Potter 'Ships I Love:

Harry/Draco
Because they have great dynamic, and they're both hot. You get angst, fighting, and bitchery all rolled into one ship. However, I hate "poor likkle Harry is pining away because Draco won't look at him." Harry is NOT an emo. Neither is he likely to turn goth for no particular reason.
Draco/Ginny
See above. You get much of the same, it's just het. Plus you get the "innocent girl" + "man of the world" plot. (If you don't get that plot-type, you're probably OOC. I'm just sayin'...)
Harry/Snape
Think of the possibilities.... And D/s is my kink.
Weasley/Weasley
Because I do. And if you toss in Hermione, think of the possibilities! (I spent too much time on restrictedsection.org, okay?!)
Tom/Ginny
Because somebody's got to be evil. And it might as well be Ginny.
Hermione/Ginny
Because geeky girls can be horny too.
Snape/James
I don't think I've ever actually read any fics with this ship, but I'd love to. Heh. I had this one bunny once (I'm ashamed to admit it actully contained MPREG)where James and Sev got together and...well...it didn't necessarily make anything AU.

'Ships I Hate:

Harry/Ron
No matter how many rants I hear about this, I still refuse to believe that dearest Ron would be anything but a homophobe.
Harry/Hermione
These two just don't have the same dynamic (yes, I know I overuse that word) as 'ships like H/D. They'd be bored with each other.
Draco/Hermione
No. Just no. Besides her being a "mudblood," and all the tension over that, their hatred does not equal OTP. She's a scholar. He's a pretty boy/heir/undeserving teacher's pet/etc. Bottom line: I hate this ship.
Sirius/Harry
I especially hate the way this ship has been handled. Sirius is like a father figure to Harry, and considers himself such. Even if a relationship were to happen, it would be gradual, and hey, he DIES TOO SOON. So there.

SW Ships I Love:

Kyp/Jaina
K/J forever. Need I say more? Yes, I do. I love the way this pairing can be written so many ways without necessarily making it OOC. I love the dynamic (shut up) between the two of them. Master/Apprentice, Goddess/Servant, Sith Lord(or Lady)/Jedi, etc. It's OTP heaven.
Jaina/Zekk
All that K/J stuff said, I also like J/Z. It's very sweet (unlike K/J) and works well if you write a "NJO never happened" fic (also unlike K/J.) I also 'shipped J/Z until the late NJO. *ducks flying objects*
Kyp/Jacen
K/J aside, I consider this to be the best NJO pairing. Too bad I've only ever read three fics with it (one on the JC, slash free, one I wrote, and another one with no nookie whatsoever.) They have the love/hate thing going (like H/D, come to think of it) and one's the "good boy" the other's the "bad guy." Yummie.
Jaina/Tahiri
No, I've never actually read one of these, even though I have written (bad) fics with this pairing. (Give me a break; it's like conjuring context out of thin air!)
Jacen/Tenel Ka
Ah yes, the YJK OTP. It fizzles badly during the NJO, but I like to think that they'll hook back up later on. I mean, bad jokes and "fact." It's the only mush ship I like! [Edit: And it's canon once again!]
Wes/Hobbie
Why? Because of [info]djcati. No other reason at all. According to Allston, 'wingmates' doesn't mean what we think it means, but we think that's due to him not wanting to lose his contract.

Ships I Hate

Jaina/Tenel Ka
Uh... It could just be that the fic I read sucked badly, but I don't think so. If you're going to write this one, you're going to have to do it well, in the right era, with the right "version" of the characters. What do I consider to be "right" for these two? Non-con during Dark Journey because Jaina is under the influence of the dark side and Tenel Ka is too weak and insane with grief to stop her. And it's still going to be hard. But if you do write one, let me know.
Jag/Tahiri
Tahiri's first love was Anakin Solo. She's going to want a likkle more excitement than Captain Cardboard. And Jag would probably want someone that *gasp* wears shoes. I mean, he is an Imperial, after all.
Jag/Jaina
Spout canon to me all you want, but it's not going to work. The guy's an idiot, okay? Have you ever read Ylesia? And no one breaks up with "I love you too, but I want something else right now" if they're OMG OTP!!111! Besides the fact that Jag doesn't stand well on his own as a character, and (like Tahiri) Jaina might find him a little boring in the long run. [Edit: And guess what? They broke up, amen, halelujah.]
Jacen/Danni
Apparently, they hooked those two up so Jace could have a little "grown up ship" all to himself. Besides the fact that I hate Danni like the bodysnatcher [Callista], she spends too much time looking smug about Jacen behind his back, much like everyone behind the hobbits' backs in LOTR.
Obi-Wan/Qui-Gon
Ah yes, the only "movies' ship" to make the list. I hate this ship worse than all the other black listed ships combined. I mean, if you want m/m with either one of these guys, for god's sake do it with somebody else! Is Obi/Ani too much for you? Is Dooku/Qui too far out for you? I try not to yell "no context" while dealing with non-canon pairings, but JAG AND TAHIRI have more context than these two. And really, this is the only SW pairing that actually squicks me.

Animorphs Ships I Love:

I know, I know, middle school series, etc. Whatever. And I've never actually read the fanfiction, so all of this is just in my head.

Random Warning: Some of theses 'ships make even darkside!k/j look tame.

Jake/Marco
Ah yes. The leader/jokester ship. Best friends forever, neither of which can get anything done with females. I think it's obvious that these two aren't het, at least in the normal sense.
Jake/Rachel
The cousins!ship. The cool&collected leader + the hot headed warrior. Oh the dynamic of ships that can never be written because of societal taboos. (Even if they could get married in Alabama.)
Rachel/David
Since when has aggravated assault been hot? Since book #20 (I think) when KAA introduced David. David is the only character in the series that can match Rachel in temper and violence
Tobias/Ax
Another cousins!ship. Although the idea of a (morphed) hawk and Andalite squicks me, if they change into the same species it isn't so bad. "Cinnamon bunz? Bun-zuh?"
Tobias/Rachel
Bestiality aside, the flipped roles in this ship work very well. Tobias, the soft-hearted intellectual and Rachel, the ass-kicker. And the angst. We must not forget the trapped!angst.
Rachel/Visser One
A V. disturbed ship that I only just thought up. Because this series needs some worthwhile femmeslash. And [forgot her name] is supposedly very attractive, right? OMG!!!! It's leik woah OTP!!!11!

Ships I Hate:

Jake/Cassie
Cassie is so filler. Cassie=Jag in the sense that hey, a major character needs some love interest and we can't be bothered to hook them up with an established character. That and the fact that the L.I. had to be het, too.
Cassie/Rachel
Best friends thing aside, Cassie would not work for Rachel. Cassie is a pacifist. Rachel is so not. East-West difference there. Rachel would get bored, therefore giving Cassie angst. And an angst!Cassie is just about the last thing we need.
Rachel/Marco
Marco gets on Rachel's nerves. This is not OMG teh lurve tension. It's just personalities grating. Yeah, they go out. Once. In Megamorphs 4. Which is like Infinities for Animorphs. (Take that, ellimist!)
Tobias/Marco
Tobias in this context is boring, and Marco is whiny. No angst, no dynamic, nothing. Just two little orphaned kiddies that aren't really orphans complaining about how bad their life is.

Everworld Ships I Love:

Hmm. There are so many. And these ships are just as bad as the Animorphs ones. Only here, the femmeslash is nearly canon!

April/Senna
Okay, no saving the best for last. It's the good girl/bad girl, innocent/worldly ship. The evil witch and the good little Catholic girl. And the angst, and the violence, and--well, April did kill Senna in number 12...
David/Chris
This is the exact equal of the Jake/Marco ship in Animorphs. KAA apparently has very little imagination. Once again, great leader + jokester = OTP.
Etain/Chris
Ah, the angst, true love, and possibilities. Never able to be together, they pine their lives away...
Senna/David
Not really a ship, more like a BDSM smut fix. Because any fic with Senna in it becomes smut by "virtue" of her being in it.
Jalil/April
The scientist vs. the saint, the only two people who actually appear to be half sane (although, of course, they aren't.) Sort of an opposites attract 'ship, with Jalil being the first to fade into Everworld and April being the last to fade anywhere (and it wasn't Everworld.)

Ships I Hate:

Not really a whole lot to say in this category. I don't really like Senna/Chris or April/Chris, but they don't bother me.

X-Men Ships I Love:

Scott/Logan
All of my ships seem to have the good/bad thing. This one is no different. Frankly, Scott needs someone to loosen him up, and Jean isn't the one to do it.
Emma/Jean
Good, bad, fire, ice. And there has to be another reason that Jean was so jealous of Scott and Emma.
Rogue/Pyro
Because Pyro's a bastard, that's why. And Bobby has a stick up his ass. Bottom line? It's just more fun than Rogue/Iceman.
Professor X/Magneto
I've never actually read one of these, but thinking about it is pretty darn funny.
Pyro/Iceman
With the release of X3, don't try to tell me this isn't canon. And if Bobby's using Rogue as a beard, it explains why he doesn't care they can't touch! It all makes so much sense!

Ships I Hate:

Bobby/Any female
Because Northstar is lonely. And Bobby is annoying.
Logan/Jean
Sure, he likes to fuck her, but I always thought he went after her more to get under Scott's skin than because he liked her.
Ororo/Scott
Because... It should be obvious, right? I mean, if you read that one about the arena... Basically, if Ororo does anybody, it won't be male, and it'll either have a horrible physical mutation or this really sexy dragon tattoo.
There are more, but I can't think of them.

Those are the only fandoms that leap to mind where I like mulitple pairings.

Various Ships

X: Fuma/Kamui because of the good/evil thing. And the hotness factor two.
Princess bride: Roberts/Wesley. But let's not tell Buttercup, okay?
Mary Rusell: Mary/Aunt non-con. Because somebody needs to shut that bitch up.
Spiderman: Peter/Flash. No reason, I just read somewhere that Peter said he had "a secret" and Flash thought he meant that he was gay. And he was like, "Don't worry, I am too." Never mind, I was having an aneurism(sp?).
Superman: Clark/Lex. It would totally explain their horrible relationship when Clark becomes Superman. Besides, some of the best smut I've read has been from Smallville.
The Secret Garden: Colin/Dickon. It's cute, it's got the class differences and the 19th century squee.
Tamora Pierce: Roger/Thom. Unlike most slash, this was only not-canon due to lack of space, quoth the author.
Pirates of the Caribbean: Elizabeth/Jack/Will. Canon, yarr.

Like I said, not a comprehensive list. But it did take me a couple hours to type up, so forgive me the odd typo.

I hate Jaina/Jag too!

Hey, I'm a hardcore Jaina/Zekk shipper. Nothing against her and Kyp though (except for the age difference, but then again I've got an aunt and uncle with just such a difference).

Anyway, I despised the J/J ship from day one, and anyone who supports it is instantly my sworn enemy, no matter how nice they might be.

SPOILERS!!!

Unfortunately, the events of the Legacy of the Force series seems to indicate an eventual J/J reconciling, and Zekk is currently MIA. People seem to take that as a sign that J/Z is well and truly done for. Needless to say, I'm pissed off!

Nothing against Troy Denning, in fact, I really like him as an author, but since he also supports J/Z, he should have had more balls when writing his books!

I seriously hope they do something better in the next series. Because if Jaina and Jag do get back together, do not be surprised if you hear about Troy Denning getting punched in the face by an annoyed fan at his front door.
